Well, I wasn't sure.

From what I can gather, generally names like cannabis and Heroin are based around lifestyle choices that some people disagree with, are ok.

However, as soon as you involve religion, race, sexuality ect. the posibility of offending someone increases, so you have to be more careful.

Post Re: Excesive names
Well, this is a very confusing and difficult arguement. Should we ban those who may have obscene name? The problem lies in the fact that some people can take offense very easily and others, like me, could care less about names, although I still do not like when multiple people can see an offensive name. I for one say that there is a limit for names, I just do not know the exact limit. I have only once meet a player with an obscene name and he changed his name when he was asked, although that was by an admin message. This topic is quite philosophical from my point of view. I think we need to practice some lenience, but not too much.

God is not exactly the christian God.
There are many gods you may believe in.
And there are those who don't believe in God, gods, demons.
Someone may use the name "I am God." If you don't believe in any god, that will not be offensive cause you believe 'god' is just an imagination, it's not real. You'll think the one who uses that name is crazy, he thinks he's something that you don't agree that exists. It's the same thing than "I AM A GHOST" or "I AM SANTA CLAUSS" or "I AM CHUCK NORRIS". If this is not offensive, "I AM GOD" isn't neither.
But, if you believe in God, or in gods, you'll know that the god you believe in won't waste his/her time playing an eletronic game. You'll believe that He/She has a lot of stuff to do. So, the one who use that name is lying and you don't have to care and think he's disrespecting your God. He's just a lunatic who thinks is overpower and will dominate the world...
But if you think the god you believe in, perhaps may play a game, you'll believe that dude/girl is really god. One more time, you'll not be angry/sad/wahtever.

So...I can't see any case where "I AM GOD" is offensive.
My opinion.

Remember that you'll just ask someone to change his/her name when its clearly offensive against someone or some group of people or some religion.
So... if the name was instead of "I AM GOD" but "YOUR FUC**N GOD IS A SUC**R" that is offensive, doesn't matter wich god, he's disrespecting some. People who read that may think it's directed to the god he believes in. So, he'll not like that.
A player may write whatever he wants about HIM/HER. Just that. If it affects another one, it doesn't matter who, that's disrespect. Example: "OSAMA BIN LADEN IS A FUC**N BASTARD SON OF A BIATCH" If there's a player who lives in Afeganistan or any other country who respects Bin Laden, he will probably start a big fight. It doesn't matter what you think about him, it doesn't matter the facts, the mistakes he has done. Curse someone won't change things. You'll just start fights disrespecting those who may think Bush is a son of a b.... ,for example. I don't like Bush, If I could I would say some bad things about him, but at his face. Do you hate Bin Laden or Bush? Great, tell them. Nobody else. If you are playing or using internet, and you say something like that, people who disagree may do some bad things to you if they find you.
So...to people do not fight, members must advertise players about the risks of some kinds of name.

I hope I haven't said bullshit and I hope you understand my freakin bad english.
Good afternoon.

Now, Tired I am. Rest, I must.
